Cannes speculation is reaching its peak ahead of April announcements about the program for the festival’s 70th year. Variety’s Elsa Keslassy and Peter Debruge weighed in on Wednesday to predict Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled, Todd Haynes’s Wonderstruck, Bong Joon-ho’s Okja with Jake Gyllenhaal, and John Cameron Mitchell’s How to Talk to Girls at Parties with Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning as likely world premieres. They also raised the tantalizing possibility of a Brad Pitt appearance on the Croisette, in support of his Netflix-backed, David Michôd–directed dark comedy War Machine, due May 26
