Carrig House Hotel
I spent the weekend at the gorgeous Carrig House Hotel, nestling at the foothills of the mountains by Loch Caragh in County Kerry, just outside Kilorglin.
It was absolutely spectacular as the weather was fantastic. It is a beautifully quaint country house hotel in the blue book with a reputation for good food and wine. As you can see from the pictures it is full of character and the food was really excellent. I would recommend the fish and the lamb both were equally good.
It has some great walks along the lakes and through the foothills of the mountains. A beautiful beach within driving distance known as Rosbeigh and is just on the edge of the Wild Atlantic Way. There is pony trekking on Rosbeigh beach and fishing available in the area. While a car is advisable taxis are easily arranged by the hotel and very helpful.
The nearest towns are Kilorglin and Glenbeigh, and in Glenbeigh I ate at the Towers Hotel but in the Summer there is also the Glenbeigh Hotel and Rumours Cafe for a bite to eat. Kilorglin has many restaurants which are good.
A very pleasant weekend with lovely staff and owners. The natives are very friendly. For further information about Carrig House Hotel, Caragh Lake, Killorglin, visit www.carrighouse.com
