Tuesday 1st – Sunday 6th October

Tradition Now, the National Concert Hall’s traditional music series takes a unique look at the evolution of traditional music and provides a platform for forward-thinking musicians.

This year’s series sees performances by Irish and international artists such as singer/songwriter Lisa O’Neill, musicians Catherine Ennis, Steve Cooney, Paddy Glackin, Sam Amidon and many more from 1st to 6th October.

RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra perform Mahler’s Symphony No. 3

Friday 11th October

The beginning of a new chapter for the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and a happy time as the orchestra welcomes back Jaime Martín for his first concert as Chief Conductor.

Hailed by the Los Angeles Times in a recent Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra concert as “thrilling”, a conductor who “electrifies” and one “dying…to share the joy”, Martín will debut with Gustav Mahler’s magnificent hymn to nature, his Symphony No.3.

The Barber of Seville

Saturday 12th, Sunday 13th & Tuesday 15th October

Rossini’s The Barber of Seville is one of opera’s great gems. This beautifully staged production features Irish and international soloists, with full orchestra and chorus.

Director Vivian Coates creates this effervescent production, featuring some of the most exceptional talents in international opera. Figaro is sung by exciting Greek baritone Georgios Iatru. Stunning English mezzo-soprano Grace Durham joins us from the SemperOper, Dresden to sing Rosina. And American super tenor Randall Bills, who is blazing a trail through Europe, sings the Count of Almaviv – all supported by The Lyric Opera Orchestra and chorus conducted by Timothy Burke.

London Mozart Players

Wednesday 16th October

Howard Shelley, OBE and world-renowned pianist and Conductor Laureate of the London Mozart Players, brings the UK’s longest-established chamber orchestra to Dublin for a special concert celebrating their 70th birthdays at the National Concert Hall.

The concert, which takes place as part of the NCH International Concert Series 2019 /2020, features a programme of orchestral classics where Haydn and Mozart take pride of place, echoing the aim of the orchestra to showcase more authentically-sized performances of the core classical works.

Amanda Palmer

Thursday 24th October

Amanda Palmer is a singer, writer, pianist, activist and blogger who simultaneously embraces and explodes traditional frameworks of music, theatre, community and art. She first came to prominence as one half of the Boston-based punk cabaret duo The Dresden Dolls, earning global applause for their wide-ranging theatricality and inventive songcraft.

Join her on 24th October for an evening of piano, pain and laughter!

Perspectives: Swordfishtrombones Revisited

Tuesday 29th October

The NCH presents Swordfishtrombones Revisited, which sees the Tom Waits’ 1983 masterpiece interpreted by Nadine Shah, Lisa O’Neill, Dorian Wood, Sarah Blasko and Matthew E. White in a remarkable performance helmed by British multi-instrumentalist David Coulter

Tom Waits reinvented himself with experimental outing Swordfishtrombones. For this special performance David Coulter guides a remarkable cast through his delightfully outlandish sonic melee. Coulter – who worked with Waits on The Black Rider and in 2011 revisited his 1985 classic Rain Dogs – brings his unique insight to this very special event.
