II M M A – Artist Talk by Elaine Hoey, Imaginary State(s)
An Artist Talk
by Elaine Hoey
Lecture Room
Saturday 12 October
13.00 — 14.00
IMMA is delighted to invite you to an artist talk by Elaine Hoey, presented as part of the exhibition Desire: A Revision from the 20th Century to the Digital Age.
Hoey will introduce her latest project Imaginary State(s), 2019, a live virtual-reality performance that fuses theatre and online computer worlds to create a real-time virtual-reality performance. This work poses questions about how anxiety and fear can manifest within a society when the desire for individuality is repressed through pre-determined national identity politics.
This innovative new work, commissioned by IMMA, will be explored within Hoey’s wider practice comprising virtual reality, interactive gaming and live performance.
This talk launches the first performance of Imaginary State(s) taking place in the exhibition on the same day. For details click here.
