Christmas is coming to Castletown House in County Kildare

THE Country Market & Craft Fair at Castletown House in Celbridge, County Kildare will welcome the festive holiday season on Sunday, 24th November when more than 80 artisan handcrafters and food producers gather in the Courtyard and Stables of the historic Palladian-style home built in the 18th century by William ‘Speaker’ Connolly and his wife, Lady Louisa.

Christmas trees flocked with snow, hot chocolate and Christmas gift shopping – let the holiday season begin!

 

All roads lead to some of the best Christmas Markets this year

 

Coppersmith Tom Cassidy will be in The Stables at Castletown House in Celbridge, County Kildare with gifts for the Christmas Market

In the stalls will be many of the solutions to just about any Christmas wish list, from bespoke metalwork designs including fine jewellery and semi-precious stones and one-of-a-kind fashions along with knitwear for adults and children, a festive feast of Christmas decorations, locally produced foods, candles and original design accessories.

Take a break between the Country Market & Craft Fair in November and the main event in December with a night of music at the movies with a twist in the Huntington Room at Castletown House. ‘Popcorn Not Included’ on Saturday, 7th December is set to feature sopranos Donna Gallagher and Joan O’Malley along with tenor Owen Gilhooley and Annalisa Monticelli on piano, Rebecca Draisey-Collishaw on oboe and Elaine Clarke on violin.

The final Country Market & Craft Fair for the season at Castletown House will kick off at 10am on Sunday, 8th December. Markets are monthly from March until December and admission is free, and missing this one would mean missing out an opportunity to visit Santa Claus and taking advantage of the original gift ideas at reasonable prices.

There was nothing nicer on a cold day at Castletown House Christmas Market than hot cocoa all round for Oneesa and Abbei Cahill, Denis and Sinead Kenny

“It has been a very busy season from when we opened last March, very successful,” said Linda Byrne, Events Coordinator at the OPW owned Castletown House. “There will be a live crib and a good mix of stalls for our Christmas Market, and we don’t know for sure as Santa may be very busy, but we are hoping to see him and keeping our fingers crossed.”
