Gown by Shamsun Elite

A group of three very different fashion designers presented their collections at Couture Fashion Week New York, representing the imagination and vision of cultures from one end of the globe to the other.

Before the runway shows started, your Pynck.com reporter went back stage to exclusively show you another integral part of any fashion show: hair and make-up. Without the talented hair and make-up artisans, the show cannot go on. Let’s take a peek backstage, together.

Shamsun Elite is a mathematics professor, model, actress and fashion designer, based in New York. She was the winner of the Miss Bangladesh competition within the Miss Asia USA Pageant. With impressive credentials like that, Ms. Elite applies her many varied talents to craft couture gowns that blend modern drama and the exotic influences of Asia.

Diana Magesa was born in Shinyanga, Northern Tanzania. Her winning costume design for the Miss Universe Tanzania competition launched her into the world of fashion design. She brings the concern for the global environment into each garment she creates.

Because the detailing of these gowns is so intricate and the lighting on the runway is so harsh, many of the fine points of these dresses are not evident in the runway images.
