WHILE our favourite shops have been closing down one by one as we swing into action against the coronavirus, shopping online for unique provenance, made in Ireland has never been easier.

Mourne Weavers & Textiles’ Karen Hay-Edie and Mario Sierra

Among the best at Showcase Ireland 2020 during happier times last autumn, Soul Engraver has continued to produce amazing bespoke jewellery, all hand-engraved by Master Craftsman Brian Dunne at his workshop in Swords, Ireland, and all available online.

A member of the Design & Crafts Council Ireland and direct supplier to Weir & Sons, Brian creates pendants, earrings and cufflinks inspired by nature as well as the sound of the human voice, a baby’s heartbeat, the call of the deer and the blowing of the wind as well as many others. His award-winning work on precious metals has been inspired by the stories of nature, in moments of deep connection and between people and places, work that comes from the heart and touches the soul where no two pieces are the same.

“We have an e-commerce website and within five days we can ship a handmade piece anywhere in the world,” said Master Engraver Brian Dunne when he spoke with Pynck.com. “It is all about very tailored and special things. It can be very personalised with sounds and voice together.

Online clients of Soul Engraver are welcome to email recorded special sounds for engraving, or choose from the natural collections of hand engravings by sending an email to brian@soulengraver.com. There is a direct link to the email address at www.soulengraver.com which also hosts a secure payment system.

The beauty of the Mourne Mountains has been brought to life by Mourne Textiles in County Down, Northern Ireland with influences from legendary designers Gerd Bergersen, Robin Day, Terence Conran, Sybil Connolly and Sheila Mullally and while doors have been shut tight against the coronavirus, the online shopping service can be opened at the click of a button.

Produced by a team of local weavers and led by Mario Sierra and his mother, renowned weaver Karen Hay-Edie, the ethically sourced, DCCI registered Mourne Textiles is renowned for its woven, wearable art, furniture and window coverings using the finest Merino wool.

Craig and Catherine Brady of Brady’s Coffee Company

“It is mostly sourced from Ireland,” said Mario Sierra, a third-generation weaver. “Our new mill means we can weave our Mourne textile designs ourselves while keeping the quality.”

A full catalogue of textiles and furniture designs are available online at www.mournetextiles.com, or send an email to studio@mournetextiles.com.

The idea of that perfect cup of coffee began seven years ago for Craig and Catherine Brady from Wicklow in Ireland, and from those small-scale artisan roasting roots has grown a bespoke collection of flavours as well as teas and brewing appliances.

It’s a bit like wine tasting and while the fruit of the grape has its place, particularly in these times, Brady Coffee Company is passionate about producing an amazing cup of coffee with every brew.

“You want to make sure that the roast hits certain points,” said Catherine Brady. “The roast depends on moisture in the air and even winter compared to summer.”

While Brady’s Coffee Company online service has definitely ramped up to meet the needs of a demanding clientele, coffee continues to be fresh roasted on a weekly basis.

“Sales have definitely ramped up and we are still available in high-end green grocers including Robbie’s in Kilmacud, Dublin,” said DCCI member Craig Brady. “We have a choice of coffees, teas, teacups and grinders online at www.coffeeshop.ie.”
