Goffs Group sales dates rescheduled in response to Covid-19

Feel free to share:

THE Goffs Group has announced a number of revised sales dates in response to Covid-19, directly affecting the UK Breeze Up and Spring Sales and the Land Rover Sale which were scheduled to take place later this month.

The Goffs UK Breeze Up, originally to take place 22nd-23rd April will, in the coming weeks, be confirmed for June dates inclusive on 13th-14th or 14th-15th.

Meanwhile the Goffs London sale has been postponed until next year, the revised date supporting the existing and popular Goffs sales date. While a venue for the Breeze Up Sale has yet to be determined, Goffs is expected to confirm a location closer to London.

The postponed sales while necessary will have a direct impact on horseracing in the UK and Ireland. It is hoped that with dates rescheduled, additional time will be provided for vendors and buyers.

“We do not feel it would be sensible to attempt to sell any category until such time as racing returns in some form in the UK and/or Ireland, and hope this revised schedule allows the time for that to happen and for the dream of racehorse ownership to be reignited in potential purchasers,” said Goffs Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby. “In these uncertain times we must plan as best we can but accept that time is going to be required before any degree of normality returns to our lives. With that in mind we have revisited our sales calendar and listened to the directives and information coming from our governments and the aspirations of the Racing Authorities in both countries.”

The Goffs UK Breeze Up has produced six Royal Ascot winners since 2010 including last season’s Norfolk Stakes winner, A’Ali. The top class 2020 catalogue is currently available online.

Yearling Sales dates including the Doncaster Premier Sale and the Goffs Orby & Sportsman’s Sales in England and Ireland will go ahead as planned in May subject to government directives and in strict adherence to safety protocols.

“We hope that this revised schedule gives some clarity to our clients whilst recognising that there are no ideal solutions to a situation no foresaw just a few weeks ago,” added Henry Beeby. “We are grateful to the industry for their assistance and assure every Goffs client that we will work tirelessly to provide the best possible opportunities to sell and buy.”
