A ‘skin’ of money made for USA’s Covid-19 relief funds
LEGENDARY golfers Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson teamed up against Ricky Fowler and Matthew Wolff for the TaylorMade Driving Relief skins game which so far has raised more than $5.5 million for Covid-19 relief funds.
The ‘skin’ or bag of loot was raised in increments at every hole on the course at Seminole Golf Club with strict social distancing measures in place on Sunday, 17th May in Florida, USA.
With a portion of the overall prize fund supported by UnitedHealth Group, McIlroy and Johnson raised $1.85 million for the American Nurses Foundation and Fowler and Wolff, $1.15 million for the CDC Foundation.
“It was fun and for a good cause, so I really enjoyed being out here today,” said Dustin Johnson about the socially distanced skins game that raised over $5 million for the Covid-19 Relief Fund. “This is how it is going to be for the most part when we come back (after quarantine). It was nice to get out here and kind of see what it will be like.”
The last televised live competition from the USA was on 12th March for the first round of The Players championship.
Golf will return on 11th June at Colonial Country Club in Texas, the Charles Schwab Challenge to be played behind closed doors.
