DEAR READERS

With September upon us and the children starting to return to schools, it’s the time of year where my thoughts always turn towards education and improving my skill levels, refreshing existing knowledge, or just learning something new to keep my interest fresh. Although society around us feels very different to usual years, by colleges and training establishments strictly following government guidelines and embracing online technology, our desire for continuing education doesn’t have to come to a halt.

If you’re a training provider, the government has issued its Further and Higher Education Roadmap and Practical Guidance for Further and Higher Education for Returning to On-site Activity in 2020 to ensure that you keep yourself, staff and your students COVID-safe in an educational environment.

Of course, one area where our industry has really mobilised during lockdown is online learning, and ABT is delighted that so many training providers have attained ABT Accreditation for Digital Learning over recent months (you can still do so by emailing accreditation@abtinsurance.co.uk). At the time of writing, 850 courses have been accredited by ABT for delivering live online sessions; find them on all online. Undertaking an ABT Accredited course – whether that’s digitally or in the classroom – means you can add your new skill to your ABT membership as soon as you’re qualified, often for no extra fee (excluding Advanced Treatments).

Adding a new treatment to your repertoire or undertaking business courses is a sound way of gaining the skills needed to rebuild, maintain or expand your salon business during uncertain times; make the most of opportunities open to you and take a positive step into the future.

Best wishes,
