Kamalaya Spa Thailand wins top honours at the World Spa & Wellness Awards

Feel free to share:

THE 2020 World Spa & Wellness Awards moved online for the first time since launching eight years ago, carrying on the industry’s ongoing efforts behind closed doors to provide the best in care, service and quality as hotel and resort facilities have ridden since last March on the pandemic roller coaster.

Kamalaya Koh Samui Wellness Centre Thailand was named as the Worldwide Health & Wellness Destination of the Year while the Four Seasons hotel and resort spa collection garnered a total of three regional accolades in the Middle East and Africa as well as Asia and Australasia.

The awards incorporate a thorough and independent judging assessment by industry professionals who undertake the task without revealing their identities.

“The World Spa & Wellness Awards recognise those businesses and individuals that demonstrate amazing levels of customer service and innovation that really help to raise standards in the wellness space,” said Professional Beauty Head of Editorial Eve Oxberry when she presented the awards on 16th November. “These are the only awards in the industry where every single finalist is visited by a mystery shopper and scored on every aspect of the customer journey.”

Finalists who made the shortlist had been rigorously as well as covertly adjudicated along with their business models to achieve top honours in their regions and at international level.

The Spa Leader of the Year was Emilie Chanon, Maia Spa Danang City, Viet Nam while the Team of the Year was Crown Spa Melbourne Australia and the Sustainable Spa of the Year was Green Spa Resort, Stanglwirt, Tirol Austria.

“There is no denying it has been a tough year for many of us,” said Professional Beauty Group founder and managing director Mark Moloney. “It has been an absolute pleasure to celebrate the achievements, the passion and the human spirit of all the people working in the spa and wellness business around the world.”

The World Spa & Wellness Awards were sponsored by Biologique Recherche, Cancer Aware Directory, Elemis, Gharieni, Lemi, Matrix, Professional Beauty and the Wellness Tourism Association.
