Berry Bros – Own Selection Highlights – Ridge Vineyards
In the 1950s, a group of Stanford graduates discovered abandoned vines planted high in the Santa Cruz Mountains, dating back to the 1880s. Intrigued, they revived the vines and made a small amount of wine. To their surprise, it turned out to be good.
So begins the story of Ridge Vineyards, a now-iconic producer propelled to fame in the 1976 Judgement of Paris. Ridge emphasise terroir and a light touch in the winery, producing rich, complex cuvées that reflect their origins.
Below, COO John Olney sheds light on Ridge’s fascinating history and talks to us about sustainability in Lytton Springs, their Sonoma County winery.
