Showcase Ireland online debut only days away

Feel free to share:

IRELAND’S creators and makers will showcase their products to Irish and international buyers online for the first time in the event’s 45-year history from Monday 25 January, and virtual visitors can expect to see the same vitality in Irish craft and design.

Supported by Design & Crafts Council Ireland, Enterprise Ireland and the Local Enterprise Offices, the pivot of the international trade fair to the new Virtual Format Showroom until 29 January is in response to restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The online platform has already sparked global interest among buyers who have already registered interest in the new virtual version of Showcase Ireland.

“Though this year’s event will look different we are confident that we will demonstrate the vitality of the Irish craft and design sector to both new and returning buyers,” said Showcase Ireland Chairperson Eddie Shanahan. “Ireland boasts a wealth of talent and creativity and while the pandemic prevents the physical event from taking place we are delighted to continue to provide a platform for Ireland’s creators and makers to showcase their products to Irish and international buyers.”

Buyers can expect to access a secure platform that will offer person-to-person virtual meetings by appointment. Online resources including exhibitor information, website and video links along with product imagery will be accessible to participants attending Showcase Ireland.

“2020 has seen seismic changes for the retail industry from the exponential growth of e-commerce to an increased focus on sustainability,” said North America at Enterprise Ireland Regional Director Sean Davis. “As the world embraces digitalisation the virtual landscape this year acknowledges the rapid changes taking place on global scale for this sector. Showcase curates an inspirational display of consumer and lifestyle products that reflects Ireland’s distinguished global reputation for excellence in design and creativity.”
