Jordana Guimaraes, along with her husband Marcelo, are the founders of FASHINNOVATION. Fashinnovation brings together international business leaders, CEOs, entrepreneurs, and fashion designers to inspire and create positive change in the fashion industry through technology. On Friday, Jan. 29th at 12:00 pm, Jordana went live on Instagram to answer questions about fashion and technology as well as innovative sustainable fashion trends for 2021.

Jordana took questions that were previously emailed to her as well as live Instagram questions. (You can see my question to her on the sidebar about a resource or directory of sustainable fashion designers.) Her answer? She’s working on it now. That’s great news! But don’t tell anyone I told you. It’s top secret.

Other insights Jordana discussed were:

-The fashion industry is currently rethinking the traditional concept of excess industry. Jordana mentioned Gifting Brands and the concept of inventory philanthropy.

Twine, a company based in Israel has created a digital thread dyeing system that will enhance the supply chain, reduce operation costs while improving sustainability.

-3-D and AI trends are becoming more important in fashion purchasing technology, with virtual fitting rooms the wave of the future.

-Fashion Week is no longer necessary to create and present innovative new fashion collections.

-On line fashion platform Away to Mars allows designers to create apparel through collaboration.

Jordana ended the session with her usual upbeat, optimistic perspective of the fashion industry. “The world needs change. Be the positive voice, you can make the world a better place. Collaboration is the key to success.”
