The #ShowYouCareHideIt initiative will take place on Easter Saturday 3 April when as many people as possible hide a Cadbury Easter Egg for a loved one from the safety of home.

Upload a snap of a favourite hiding place at home showing a Cadbury Easter Egg on social media and tag @Cadbury Ireland using #ShowYouCareHideIt. Follow with a text to 50300 to donate €4 to Barnardos and 100 percent of every donation will go directly to the charity across most network operators.

Barnardos delivers services while working with families, communities and partners to transform the lives of vulnerable children in adverse experiences. Some network operators may apply VAT to texts, however a minimum of €3.60 will go to the Barnardos charity provider LIKECHARITY at helpline 0766805278: screen grab donations and share on social media with favourite hiding place snap.

“The most important part of our annual Easter event is that all proceeds raised through ticket sales are donated to Barnardos to help fund their vital work,” said Cadbury Brand Manager Maighréad Lynch. “Usually at this time of year we are gearing up for our favourite annual event, the Cadbury Easter Egg Hide in Merrion Square (Dublin Ireland) joined by 2,500 families over two days. Whilst we can’t do that this year we can still show those we love that we care while raising money for Barnardos too.”

The Barnardos charity has seen a much higher demand on its online services at https://www.barnardos.ie under deepening restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Charity partner Cadbury Ireland provides an opportunity to raise vital funds lost through successive lockdowns of more than a year.

Everyone who shares a donation snap of a Cadbury Easter Egg in its hiding place using #ShowYouCareHideIt will be in with a chance to win a Cadbury hamper full of Easter goodies.

“For children and families who were already living in significantly challenging environments, Covid-19 has pushed many to the edge,” said Barnardos CEO Suzanne Connolly. “We saw the cracks appear in early summer (2020) with additional financial pressures due to job losses and the closure of essential services (and) as the year progressed, these cracks deepened. “We are so grateful to our fantastic partner Cadbury Ireland whose continued support of our services means we can reach more vulnerable children and families.”

Cadbury has created the ultimate ‘Show You Care, Hide It’ pack which will be given away on Cadbury social media channels in the run up to Good Friday, 2 April. The packs will include delicious Cadbury Easter Eggs, hiding tips and signage with lots of party goodies for the perfect hide at home.

Follow @CadburyIreland across Instagram, Twitter and Facebook for more information and a chance to win a #ShowYouCareHideIt pack.
