Meet the dancers…Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice
Blackwater Valley Opera Festival returns in all its glory for 2022 with Gluck’s popular opera, Orfeo ed Euridice (31 May – 6 June) featuring the acclaimed Irish Baroque Orchestra and award-winning CoisCéim Dance Theatre in the magical surroundings of Lismore Castle. Our Saturday Night Gala performance of Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice is sold out, however tickets are available for Friday night, Sunday night (June bank holiday weekend) or earlier in the week on Wednesday night. Enjoy one of the most beautiful landscapes and castle gardens in the country. Dine in style, dress up (or down)… but don’t miss out. Maurice Steger & Friends: Music for the Opera Intermissions: Thursday 2nd June at 8pm
Three exceptionally talented, world-class musicians; Maurice Steger, Daniele Caminiti, and Mauro Valli will come together in concert for the very first time at Dromore Yard. Celebrated as “the world’s leading recorder virtuoso”, Maurice Steger is also a remarkable stage presence.
BVOF Voices of Ukraine: Sunday 5th June at 4 pm
Blakytne Nebo i Pshenychni Polya (Blue Skies and Wheat Fields) will feature internationally accomplished Ukrainian artists soprano Ruslana Koval, baritone Stanislav Kuflyuk and pianist Iryna Krasnovska. All ticket proceeds from this event will be donated to UNICEF.
Giovanni Bellucci: Myths & Legends – Orpheus: Monday 6th June at 1pm
We are delighted to welcome the phenomenal talent of pianist Giovanni Bellucci performing Myths & Legends from Orpheus. His stratospheric career started when he discovered piano playing at 14 years old, then gave his first concert with the “Totentanz” by Liszt. Giovanni Bellucci is considered to be one of the most influential pianists of our time.
Irish Baroque Orchestra with Nuria Rial and Juan Sancho: Monday 6th June at 8pm
The Irish Baroque Orchestra, conducted by their Artistic Director, Peter Whelan, will be joined by soprano, Nuria Rial and tenor, Juan Sancho. Under the artistic direction of Peter Whelan at the harpsichord, international performers; Nuria and Juan will sing arias and duets in an exciting Handel programme entitled, “Happy We”. An evening of vocal fireworks and orchestral vibrancy awaits in Dromore Yard.
