The Met Gala Red Carpet Looks: From Glamorous to Outrageous
The Met Gala is a fundraising benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The white tie dress code was entitled “Gilded Glamour” which encouraged guests to approach late 19th-century clothing through a modern lens, referencing the very popular HBO series, “The Gilded Age.”

One of the most noteworthy gowns was seen on Kim Kardashian, shown here on the red carpet with Pete Davidson. The pale gold gown encrusted in sparkling crystals was worn by Marilyn Monroe in 1962 when she sang the famous “Happy Birthday” song to then President John F. Kennedy. Kim had to lose 16 pounds to fit into the gown, which could not be altered. Watch the video here where Kim’s extraordinary story is explained in depth.
