Autumn Winter Catwalk Makeup Trends

Feel free to share:

Dark, sombre, and deviant themes—think witchy glam, untidy grunge, and punk rock—center on matte black pigment and pale skin are inextricably linked to the A/W season. The lips and eyebrows are the two main styling features; the former is enhanced with juicy gloss and vibrant colour, while the latter is expertly bleached. Additionally, a celestial fashion that celebrates sci-fi visions and galactic sheen appears.

Strong Bleached Eyebrows

Bleached brows are a developing consumer trend as well as a key component of fashion styling, with more than 124 million views on TikTok. The most sophisticated and elegant versions of this season have expert colouring in an effort to better match skin tone. Ice white brows complement graphic eye designs, particularly when combined with contrasting black colour. Soft pink is a fun choice, and brassy yellow has a grungier DIY feel.

Space Science Fiction

For fun holiday and festival makeup, molten, glittery metallics in tribal patterns on the face are most inspiring, while subtle applications of bright shimmer to highlight a middle hair parting or the inner corners of the eyes are more commercial.

Visual Black

The secret to creating interesting graphic looks is impenetrable matte black shadows, lines, and creams, as seen at this season’s most makeup-forward presentations. At Rodarte, coloured graphite is applied thickly all over the lips and eyelids, enhancing spectral complexions. Other than clear no-makeup makeup, brush swatches, lines, and innocent shapes around the eyes stand out.

Natural Glow

Speaking of no-makeup makeup, this season’s natural look is chic and sophisticated while also being gentle and ethereal. Cosmetics for the complexion blur and disguise flaws without covering the skin, allowing it to show through. Additionally popular is skincare-first styling, with models sporting the newest copper orange hair colour fad.

Punk Rebellion

Another major trend for A/W 23/24 is Grungy Punk Black, but with a more rebellious protest perspective. Black lips are paired with spray paint in a graffiti-style, spiky facial accessories, and paint that has a grease-like appearance. Similar to this, the grunge style of the 1990s is most often associated with the use of kohl pencil that has been smudged and smeared around the eye. Again, a disorganised, haphazard approach is essential here; nevertheless, metallic shine and delicate contouring lift it to luxurious couture heights.

Lush Lips

With distinctive applications, embellishments, and opulent colours and textures, Lip Love Lips receive extra-special treatment. The most striking example is a faded ombré lip from Gucci, where a subtle wash of red transitions into a faded yellow halo around the rims of the lips. Classic fade effects with deeper or pinker reds are more approachable. In terms of texture, gloss still dominates young styling, but matte makes a comeback as a daring finish.
