We have been huge fans of Viña Tondonia for decades. The wines are always complex, charming and astonishingly ageworthy.
But even we have been bowled over by this particular example.
This is a wine that proves why 2001 is deemed to be one of the greatest Rioja vintages of all time. Over the years, layers of complexity have developed in the bottle.
Stylish and lively, this is intensely flavoured, with toasted coconut, a rich earthiness, and red fruit that remains vibrant. This is a majestic wine, and one that would make a stunning choice for a Christmas celebration.
