Namacheko founders and siblings Lezan and Dilan Lurr never set out to start a fashion brand. In 2016, they decided to make a short film documenting their cousins’ lives back in Kirkuk, Iraq, where they were born. They designed costumes for the documentary.
What happened next was a bit of serendipity: they premiered the film in Paris and the owners of nearby concept store The Broken Arm stopped by. They were immediately drawn to the bridalwear-inspired clothing, placing an order on the spot and connecting them with a PR, who secured them a show slot on the Paris Fashion Week schedule in Spring/Summer 2018. Amy Francombe finds out what happened next.
