What You Didn’t See at the SAG Awards
The Screen Actors Guild Awards were the final show before next Sunday’s Oscars—and, like the rest of this season, they had a few surprises up their sleeves. Not only did Only Murders in the Building sneak in an unexpected win for best ensemble in a comedy series, but A Complete Unknown’s Timothée Chalamet beat The Brutalist’s Adrien Brody for lead actor in a movie, and best movie cast went to Conclave. Vanity Fair was in the room at the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday night, where we caught all the action that didn’t make it onto the Netflix stream—including a heartfelt dedication to Los Angeles firefighters, fans (and staff!) fawning over Demi Moore, and the debates that ensued at the after-party over who might win an Oscar next week.
Elsewhere in HWD, Chris Murphy chats with returning White Lotus star Natasha Rothwell; VF’s fashion team reveals who made their list of the best dressed stars at SAG; Rebecca Ford takes us inside the Independent Spirit Awards; and Mike Hogan heads to Washington state for the first Twin Peaks day without David Lynch.
Harrison Ford snaps selfies with firefighters, Timothée Chalamet preps offstage, and a surprise ensemble winner keeps the awards race interesting.
Natasha Rothwell returns for The White Lotus season three as Belinda, who’s got a new lease on life after getting knocked sideways by Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya.
From custom couture to diamond-accented ensembles, these carefully considered (and expertly executed) looks topped Vanity Fair’s SAG best-dressed list.
Sean Baker’s Anora won best feature, best director, and best lead performer for Mikey Madison at the Independent Spirit Awards.
Inside the three-day convocation known as the Real Twin Peaks, where all the coffee is damn fine and fans are still learning how to live without David Lynch.
