Shortlisted for the 2020 Popcorn Award for new plays, Denouement is a tender, funny, and sharply observed love story by John Morton, coming to our Main Stage this October.
Set in the year 2048, Edel and Liam’s days are numbered, but they’re not going quietly. Between squabbles, heartfelt confessions, and stubborn disagreements, they navigate the big and small questions of life together.
Both moving and absurdly funny, this is the story of an ordinary couple facing extraordinary circumstances, reminding us that love has a way of making even the strangest situations feel human.
The Lyric is proud to present the world premiere of Denouement as part of this year’s Belfast International Arts Festival. Starring Anna Healy and Patrick O’Kane, it’s a funny, moving, and darkly comic take on what remains when everything else is stripped away.
Edel and Liam’s mix of humour, honesty, and decades of shared history shines a light on the resilience of the human spirit, even at the very end. This one will linger with you long after the curtain falls.
