As an independent charity, the Friends of the Royal Academy play a vital role in keeping the RA Schools fee-free for the next generation of talent. Members can explore the newly refurbished Keeper’s House by José Pizarro or enjoy exclusive access to the historic Fine Rooms. Looking for the perfect present? Where art is made, taught, and exhibited

This winter, our exhibition lineup celebrates art schools in all their variety. In our Main Galleries, Kerry James Marshall explores the role of art museums and academies in his thought-provoking murals. Upstairs, our Indian modernism exhibition centres on the artistic community that grew from the influential Kala Bhavana school in India. And in the Royal Academy Schools’ public show space, three current RA Schools students have created a walk-through installation landscape.

Every purchase you make at the RA helps secure the future of the Royal Academy Schools. Founded in 1769 to train future artists for free, it’s now one of the longest established art schools in the UK and – thanks to your support – still offers fee-free tuition today.
