About Violette

Estée Lauder herself and I have so much in common that I’m working with her in my mind always. It’s still her maison, how you say in French, and I am just a guest,” says newly appointed Estée Lauder global beauty director Violette, who succeeds Tom Pecheux. The 33-year-old native Parisian, who now resides in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, will work closely with the brand on product development, digital-content creation, and consumer education, through her signature beauty tutorials (her YouTube channel

has nearly 100,000 subscribers and is cumulatively just short of three million views).

My main focus right now is to create very strong products that are as good as having a makeup artist in your bathroom so you don’t have to overthink it and you don’t have to struggle with the technique,” Violette explains. This focus on simplicity directly aligns with the artist’s je ne sais quoi–centric style. She frequently focuses on a single area of the face—sometimes it’s a statement lip, sometimes its sparkling eyes—to create quick-and-easy looks no matter where you are or where you’re going.

More than anything, Violette intends to continue to help create high-quality products while bringing a bit of “va-va-voom” to the more-than-70-year-old brand. Utilizing social media as one of her greatest assets, her hope is to work with and on women of all ages and skin tones, customers old and new. “As soon as you are shown one example or look on a woman that is similar to you, then you can relate more,” she says. “But I’m not going to try to please everyone,” she adds. “Estée Lauder should be Estée Lauder.” A brand that, in many ways, speaks for itself.

Violette….

If there is one look I would like to see more of, it’s seeing more women daring to celebrate their femininity and having fun with their makeup.
