New Year with the First Hallmarked Piece of 2019

Feel free to share:

2019 marks the year Iconic Dublin jeweller Weir & Sons turns 150 years old. Kicking off a year of celebrations, the brand has commissioned a special edition silver commemorative plate, the first hallmarked piece of 2019 by the Dublin Assay office. A collector’s series, the plate is Irish hallmarked, while the centre motif features an image of the landmark Grafton Street store in Silver Gilt/Gold Plated on Silver.

Photographed in the picturesque grounds of Dublin Castle, The Andrews family visited the Dublin Assay office where jewellery gets the stamp of approval. The office was established in 1637 to supervise the hallmarking of each piece of gold and silver throughout Ireland. Precious metals such as silver, gold, platinum and palladium are officially marked by a stamp or a series of strikes.

The jeweller has a number of other exciting plans in progress to mark its sesquicentennial year, including a series of collaborations with Irish jewellery designers on bespoke limited edition pieces. Irish silver commemorative plate (available in 3 sizes – 10 inch, 12 inch and 18 inch diameter), price upon request, available soon at Weir & Sons

The commemorative plate will be available later in the year at Weir & Sons, Grafton Street, from January 3rd 2019.
