Pichet is Ten! The Bib Gourmand eatery is celebrating with a series of food & drink events. July 2nd -14th 2019
A modern take on a classic bistro, Pichet has been serving up the finest Irish cuisine with a French influence since opening its doors in July 2009. Having received numerous awards since its inception, Chef Patron Stephen Gibson and his team have built a well-oiled machine that has been serving fantastic food seven days a week, for the past decade.
Let’s wind back the clock ten years. The Irish economy was beginning to go through an economic downturn and the dream of Pichet was on the cusp of reality. With a shoestring budget to hand, Stephen and his team found the perfect home on the corner of Trinity Street and Andrew’s Lane and decided it was a “now or never” opportunity. This is where the reality of Pichet began.
Stephen’s career has previously seen him work in some of the worlds most renowned and innovative restaurants, from Nico Ladenis in London, Fauchon in Paris, Fiskekrogen in Göteborg, Café Otto in Sydney to L’Ecrivain right here in Dublin, it’s safe to say his cheffing career had more than prepared him to run his very own kitchen. Within its first year of opening Pichet received the prestigious Bib Gourmand and it has managed to retain it every year since. The idea of great quality food at affordable prices, in a casual atmosphere allowed Pichet to flourish. The good times were not over, just slightly adjusted.
On Tuesday, July 2nd, Pichet will celebrate its official birthday and the kitchen are curating a Pichet Classics Menu full of favourites from the past ten years. This will include the delectable Lobster Burger, melt in the mouth Crispy Hens Egg and perfect Suckling Pig. Customers who dine in house on the 2nd will be invited to enjoy a complimentary bespoke Hennessy house cocktail and some birthday cake, because what’s a birthday without cake?
On Saturday, July 6th, Pichet have teamed up with their bubbly of choice Veuve Clicquot to bring diners a Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brunch. This is a special ticketed event at €35pp and each person gets to enjoy a 3 course brunch to include sharing snacks, a brunch main, dessert and two glasses of Veuve Clicquot. Tickets are available now via Eventbrite.
On Tuesday, June 9th, The Ginstitute at the bar in Pichet is the place to be. Gin fans are invited to partake in a Tanqueray masterclass hosted by Diageo Reserve Brand Ambassadors, to include all gins within the Tanqueray portfolio. This includes the brand new Tanqueray Flor De Sevilla, a unique distilled gin made with Sevilla orange essences and other botanicals. Tickets for this one off event are just €20 and are on sale now via Eventbrite.
On Sunday, July 14th, Stephen Gibson will be joined for a very special Friends of Pichet event with Adam Purcell. Adam previously spent three years working with Stephen in Pichet before moving to Paris. Here he worked for Gregory Marchand at Frenchie, Rue du Nil which earned its first Michelin Star in 2019. During his time here he worked in all three Paris based restaurants, eventually running Frenchie Bar a Vins. Adam was most recently promoted to the position of Head Chef at Gregory Marchands larger London outpost Frenchie Covent Garden.
