Unmissable New Watch Launches At Weir & Sons

Feel free to share:

Calling all watch aficionados! This summer will see the latest innovations from Baselworld, one of the largest and most prestigious watch and jewellery fairs in the world, in store at Weir & Sons.

Must-see pieces include new arrivals from iconic brand Rolex as a new model joins the Yacht-Master range of sailing watches: the Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 42. The Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller is introduced in a yellow Rolesor version, while the Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II in Oystersteel with a Cerachrom bezel insert in blue and black ceramic is fitted with a Jubilee bracelet. The Day-Date 36 is presented with novel dials, in particular those in decorative stone. The Oyster Perpetual Datejust 36 and the Oyster Perpetual Datejust 31 in yellow, white or Everose Rolesor versions are proposed with new, refined dials. A standout piece is the Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona, unveiled with a paved black lacquer dial, on which the chronograph counters are intertwined with diamonds and black lacquer.

The latest collection from TAG Heuer takes inspiration from the original Autavia models and makes use of the most innovative watchmaking technology to appeal to a new generation of adventurers. A blend of “automobile” and “aviation”, the Autavia began as dashboard instruments used in racing cars and aircraft. The latest models unveiled at Basel are three-hand models with date, in 42mm cases drawn from the round case and bevelled lugs of the first-generation Autavia watches. Available in stainless steel or bronze with titanium caseback, the new Autavia sports a higher level of design refinement than its 1960s forebears, evident from the case finish and particularly in the dials. Also noteworthy is the attractive engraving of propeller and tyre on the caseback, cementing the association of the new collection with its distinguished roots. Straps and bracelets are also readily interchangeable, tool-free, via pushbuttons on the underside of the case.

Luxury watch brand Tudor was created by Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex, in 1926 as a watch with all the style, character and robust high quality of its older sibling Rolex but at a more accessible price point. 2019 sees the brand welcome four distinct models to its Black Bay Family, all of which will be available at Weir & Sons. The Black Bay P01, a 42mm steel contemporary sports watch is based on a legendary prototype developed and proposed to the US Navy in the 1960s, and will be available in a hybrid brown leather and rubber strap. The Black Bay Bronze is updated in a new slate-grey colourway with shaded dial, available on a slate grey fabric strap and a black nubuck leather strap, both available in a 43mm case size. The Black Bay Chrono S&G, a new model combining the aquatic and motorsport heritage of the brand, features a steel and yellow gold 41mm case, black dial and champagne-coloured counter, available in a riveted steel and yellow gold bracelet, brown leather strap with removable bund or a black fabric strap. Finally the Black Bay 41/36/32 S&G, is just as versatile as and even more elegant than ever, featuring a new five-link yellow gold and steel bracelet, exclusive to these models.

Grand Seiko is known for a unique blend of expert craftsmanship, technical expertise and value for money. Standout pieces coming to Weir & Sons this summer include the Grand Seiko Watch Quartz GMT Sport SBGN005G. Equipped with the 9F86 quartz calibre, it boasts a dual time zone function which is displayed beautifully by a red coloured pointed hand and offers unbeatable accuracy of ±10 seconds per year. The polished stainless steel scratch resistant case is only 12mm in thickness allowing the watch and its matching stainless steel bracelet to mould effortlessly to the wrist. From Grand Seiko, we love the Grand Seiko SBGA229G, which pays homage to Japan’s rich cultural heritage with a dial made from porcelain from Arita, the home of porcelain in Japan.

Breitling, the Swiss watchmaker known for precision-made chronometers designed for aviators, is delighted to introduce a tribute to the brand’s iconic original Superocean 1957 model, the Superocean Héritage II B20 Automatic 42. Reliable and original, it features an ultra-hard, scratchproof high-tech ceramic bezel and steel mesh bracelet. Its steel or steel and gold case is water-resistant to 200 m (660 ft). Housing an official chronometer-certified self-winding Manufacture calibre, this is a Breitling watch with a mission.
