Irish National Opera’s inventive and magical new production CINDERELLA unfolds from the very pages of books and celebrates the idea of literature, fantasy, and escapism. Mezzo soprano Tara Erraught, one of the world’s leading Rossini singers, celebrated for her rich vocal fireworks and dynamic stage presence, is joined by Andrew Owens as Don Ramiro.
Irish audiences will get to enjoy Irish mezzo soprano Tara Erraught perform the title role in Dublin, in advance of her singing for all performances at the run in the Metropolitan Opera New York in Spring 2020.
The age-old fairytale, uniquely dark, yet sparkling and touchingly redemptive, resonates as much today as it did in times gone by. Whether you’re an opera buff or a first timer, there’ll be something here for you – relevant and contemporary, yet straight from the world of fairytales, it’s a real mixture of humour, grit, vocal gymnastics and delicious melodies wrapped up in a magical set and luscious costumes.
Directed by Orpha Phelan and designed by Nicky Shaw, CINDERELLA features the Irish National Opera Chorus and Irish National Opera Orchestra conducted by Fergus Sheil.
CINDERELLA is sung in Italian with English surtitles
