The new year is a warm and joyful time for us at The Merrion. We’re looking back at a truly memorable Christmas, and forward to welcoming old friends and new throughout the year ahead.

One of the first exciting events on our calendar is when we celebrate the marriage of two great houses, as Ballyfin comes to the Merrion. Award winning Ballyfin Chef, Sam Moody, joins Merrion Chef Ed Cooney for a series of dinners from January 29th to February 2nd. Preceded by fascinating informal talks and a glass of champagne, there are limited tickets available to this unique experience. For more information, please see here.

January 2020 also marks a very intriguing centenary, as January 17th is exactly one hundred years since the establishment of Prohibition in the United States of America, an experiment that also heralded the dawning of the Jazz Age. Discover what it meant for health, society, music, cocktails and literature in this month’s blog here.

So whether you’re embracing Dry January, or jazzing things up, mark the occasion by raising a glass or two. There are new non-alcoholic cocktails, along with a range of classics to sample at Bar No. 23 and The Cellar Bar.
