Friends of the Royal Academy – Time to revisit the garden
Step into Monet’s garden
Hello again from all of us at the RA and thank you for your continued support as a Friend. This week, we’re delighted to take you back to our 2016 landmark exhibition, Painting the Modern Garden.
Using the work of Monet as a starting point, alongside paintings by Matisse, Kandinsky, Klimt and more, this highly acclaimed show examined the role gardens played in the evolution of art from the early 1860s through to the 1920s.
First for Friends
Thanks to Seventh Art Productions, we’re taking you behind the scenes with a full length feature documentary. The film will be screened on our Youtube channel this weekend, but as a Friend, you don’t have to wait! So sit back and be transported, from the comfort of your own home to that famous water lily bridge in Giverny and beyond…

An update about our exhibitions
Our reopening date is still to be confirmed but we are pleased to share that in 2020 we still plan to open Léon Spilliaert, Gauguin and the Impressionists, Summer Exhibition, and Tracey Emin/Edvard Munch.
Marina Abramović and Rita Angus have been postponed to 2021, and unfortunately, we have had to cancel Angelica Kauffman and Cezanne: The Rock and Quarry Paintings.
We will keep you updated with new information as soon as confirmed. Thank you for your continued support.
