Love Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc?
Marlborough is unique – not for any one reason but for many. This region is full of colour, complexity and diversity – making this part of New Zealand truly special.
Only Marlborough has the environment that can produce its particular style of sauvignon blanc, celebrated the world over. The soils, the climate and our winemakers’ vision are what make our award-winning wines impossible to imitate.

A classic and audacious match
It is a common thought that a Sauvignon Blanc will not stand up to red meat. “Balance and harmony is our focus when matching food and wine. We try to forget any pre-conceived ideas, close our eyes and just think about the flavours in front of us and where they can go. “ We thank Liz Buttimore and Chef Bradley Hornby from Arbour for sharing beautiful regional produce that can be paired with different styles of Sauvignon Blanc – to give an idea of the versatility of the grape and technique of our local winemakers.
Appellation Marlborough Wine comes of age
Champagne, Burgundy, Beaujolais, the French developed classification systems for their wines years ago and now the Kiwis have clamped down, creating their own appellation for Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Appellation Marlborough Wine™ was created in 2018 with a strict certification process that the region’s producers are able to apply for.

The Sauvignon Blanc glass is perfect for all styles of this variety, from the grassy, fruit-forward wines of the Marlborough to the oak-aged, honeyed blends from Bordeaux. To celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the very first Sauvignon Blanc glass, RIEDEL released a new glass shape for this aromatic white wine. RIEDEL collaborated with various regions including Marlborough, New Zealand, to design the new product to suit the variety’s evolving New World style.
