Message from the CEO
Welcome to the latest edition of our Opening Doors newsletter. Thank you, our supporters and partners, for your continued interest in and commitment to the work of Peter McVerry Trust and those who we help.
This newsletter reaches you in uncertain times. I hope that all of you are safe and following the guidance of the HSE on COVID-19. In light of this pandemic, we have postponed all of our events until later in the year. This makes your support all the more important, as we still have to raise the vital funds needed to operate our services.
In the newsletter you will find personal stories from people who have given us permission to share how your support has helped them. Their stories, in their own words, carry huge impact and demonstrate why Peter McVerry Trust works day in, day out to provide as many positive outcomes for people as we can. The newsletter also features our youth services, which includes a visit by President Michael D Higgins to Tabor House, to mark 40 years of the service. The opening of Tabor House in 1979 began Fr McVerry’s journey in tackling homelessness. Paddy Fay, who was the very first resident of Tabor House, met with President Higgins. Paddy is now a Housing First tenant with Peter McVerry Trust.
To all of you that have taken part in or supported our fundraising events, thank you. We really need your support again in 2020 and we encourage you to think of new ways in which you can support us now and in the coming months.
I hope you enjoy the newsletter and I wish you all a safe and Happy Easter.
