* THE PROJECT *
Cannes Cinéma wanted to enrich and continue its image education mission. Masterclasses and training are at the heart of Cannes Cinéma’s activity. Indeed, the association organizes multiple meetings and masterclasses all year round for ALL audiences (school or general public). Driven by our mission of Regional Center for Image Education combined with the 100% EAC policy of the city of Cannes and our approval of National Education, we have redesigned our meetings to offer educational, technical and cultural content, through the experiences of real film professionals, in a form other than the one we usually use. Our wish was to be able to offer videos of educational resources on the cinema trades, to students or pupils of cinema section so that they can consult them freely or in class.

This is how we started last April to work with different cultural or social structures or with educational establishments (AEBAC and Citizen-Cannes.TV, the BTS Audiovisual of Cannes and the Cinema Prépa of Lycée Carnot, the International Lycée of Valbonne, Unis-Cité Toulon and its Cinema & Citizenship volunteers) to create our new “Cannes Cinema Meetings”.
Each week, students have the opportunity to send us all their questions about this or that film profession, or for such and such a personality: the professionals concerned then answer it by video, in an interview with students.
* PROGRAM AND DISSEMINATION *
The videos are available for free on our Cannes Cinéma Youtube channel and on our social networks. We started this week on May 11 with a “Meeting with Jean-Philippe Guérand on the profession of Cinema Criticism”. Also on the program are videos on the profession of documentary filmmaker with Clara Kuperberg, the profession of film critic again with Ariane Allard and the profession of Programming Director in a film distribution company with Philippe Lux.
