Barolo producer G.D. Vajra and Liberty Wines have launched an Instagram challenge for hospitality workers in aid of six charitable organisations in the UK and Ireland that are working to help people affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Entrants will have two weeks to post a photo or video on Instagram about Barolo and what it means to them, in order to have a chance of winning a mixed case of 2016 Barolo wines from G.D. Vajra. Four runners up will win a jeroboam of the 2016 G.D. Vajra Barolo ‘Albe’. To qualify, they must be working in hospitality in the UK or Ireland and be over 18 years of age.

Rather than asking participants to donate, G.D. Vajra and Liberty Wines will themselves make a donation, split evenly between UK charities Hospobox, Hospitality Action, and The Caring Foundation. In Ireland, a further donation will be made to Feed The Heroes, Blood Bike South and The Restaurants Association of Ireland

Benevolent Fund.

To enter, post a photo or a short one-minute video about the beauty of Barolo and what it means to you. You may wish to finish one of these sentences, or come up with something entirely different…I love Barolo because…What Barolo means to me…My favourite fact about Barolo is…Barolo and … are a perfect combination (and why)

Follow and tag @gdvajra_barolo, @liberty_wines and the three charities in your country. include #barolochallengeUK or #barolochallengeIE

The Irish charities supported by this event are:

Feed The Heroes  A group of volunteers working with the food industry in Ireland to provide meals for frontline healthcare workers. A number of restaurants are working with them to supply food to hospitals and other healthcare workers. https://feedtheheroes.com @feedtheheroesire

Blood Bike South Run by a group of motorbike enthusiasts, this charity assists public hospitals and other medical facilities by providing a voluntary out-of-hours motorcycle transport service for medical materials. In the current crisis, the group’s volunteers have been involved in the transportation of Covid-19 tests from testing centres to laboratories. Liberty Wines sales representative, Marcus Gates, is a volunteer rider with the group. https://www.bloodbikesouth.ie/  @bloodbikesouth

The Restaurants Association of Ireland Benevolent Fund  Founded in March 1996, the Benevolent Fund is for those currently or previously involved in the hospitality and catering industry in Ireland. Their aim is to help people from our industry that, through no fault of their own, have fallen on hard times and need a helping hand.
