The Bordeaux En Primeur 2020 offering presents the opportunity to purchase wine whilst it is still maturing in barrel at the Châteaux in France. There is a chance the value of these wines may increase in the future and purchasing at a fixed price now often represents the best value for these fine wines. The wines will arrive in Dublin in the spring of 2023.
2020, “the lockdown vintage” started early for the vignerons as buds appeared in some communes in February and over the growing season this was followed by frost, rain, cool days and heat, in other words everything nature had to offer. A sunny dry September though, ensuring that Merlots ripened well as did early Cabernet Sauvignon, yielding small but sweet, spicy dense berries. Overall, the wines from the 2020 vintage have received very good reviews although yields are relatively low. Comparisons in growing conditions and wine concentration are being made to the excellent 2018 vintage and 2020 is considered the final wine in a trilogy of great vintages: 2018, 2019 and 2020.
The Châteaux have kindly sent their wines to Dublin for our Wine Team to taste and assess their quality and The O’Briens Wine Team have carefully selected this En Primeur 2020 offering based on these tastings and we hope that you will find something to tempt you in this historical lockdown 2020 vintage.

- You will receive a confirmation email and receipt for your order.
- In the spring of 2023 you will be invoiced for the Excise Duty and VAT associated with your purchase.
- The 2020 wines will be bottled and released by the Châteaux in the spring of 2023 at which time we will ship the wines from France to your preferred location in Ireland, included in the price paid today.
