Robert Burns in the Royal Collection
In the week of Burns Night, join us for this celebration of Scotland’s national poet, focusing on the ‘Tam O’Shanter’ chair on display at the Palace of Holyroodhouse. You will get an opportunity to examine the rarely-seen back of the chair, inlaid with four brass panels engraved with the poem Tam O’Shanter and painted with Tam riding his horse.

Holbein in Basel
Join us for an in-conversation style event with exhibition curator Dr Kate Heard and Dr Ariane Mensger, Curator of Old Master Prints and Drawings at the Kunstmuseum Basel, Switzerland. Kate and Ariane’s discussion will span the collections of Holbein’s work in Basel and within the Royal Collection, sharing new insights into the development of Holbein’s life and work.

The Field of the Cloth of Gold
This magnificent painting records the meeting between Henry VIII and Francis I, which took place in 1520. In this online event, Rosanna De Sancha, Senior Paintings Conservator, will share the meticulous work undertaken by our conservation team to restore this masterpiece in preparation for its display in our exhibition, Holbein at the Tudor Court.

Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House: 100th Anniversary Talk
Join us as we celebrate the 100th anniversary since Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House was first displayed in 1924. Senior Curator of Decorative Arts, Kathryn Jones, will share some of her personal highlights from the tiny objects on display in the Dolls’ House, as well providing insight into how the house is conserved for future generations of visitors to enjoy.
