Initiated by Charles Frederick Worth, (considered the father of haute couture), the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM) traces its origins to 1868, when the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture was founded in Paris to protect the interests of couture artisans and combat the threat of mass production. Paris Fashion Week, as well as Haute Couture Week is brought to us by this historic institution.
