New York actress Sarah Jessica Parker, who is also known for her perfume and shoe brand; is just about to launch her own wine range.  The wine will be created in collaboration with New Zealand winery Invivo. The new wine will be launched on the Irish market in the summer of 2019 and will feature a Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé wine.

I am a true wine lover and I love including wine in family dinners and occasions with friends so this is a very exciting and fun project for me. I’m so looking forward to every single stage of thecreation,” said Sarah Jessica Parker. “I intend to be very hands-on throughout the process, as I am with all my endeavors, and could not be partnering with a better brand than Invivo.”

The Invivo story started with “grapes, time and two maxed-out credit cards.” Co-founders and school friends, Tim Lightbourne and Rob Cameron wanted to make quality unpretentious wine that their friends would enjoy drinking. 10 years, two record breaking crowdfunding rounds and millions bottles later, they’re now selling the Invivio brand globally in16 countries.

The new collaboration with SJP is not a celebrity endorsement; the actress will be involved in every aspect of the new wine, from the winemaking itself to choosing the final blend, as well as the brand name and label design. SJP is now a shareholder in the company and takes a long-term view of this project.

We want this wine to be 100% Sarah Jessica Parker. So other than selecting the base wines for a Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé, I’ll be taking a back seat and letting her create the blends,” explains Invivo winemaker Rob Cameron. “It comes down to SJP’s palate and preferences. We want to create wines that she truly loves and wants to drink and share with friends.

The blending, tasting and adjusting will be the exact same process that any other winemaker would follow, but with the guidance of SJP and overseen by Invivo. So why a New Zealand winery? New Zealand wines are well known for their quality, and Invivo has received over 200 medals in international wine competitions including World’s Best Sauvignon Blanc, 90 point ratings from both Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator AND awarded Champion Pinot Noir at the 2018 New York Wine and Spirit Show.

These wine collaboration projects are familiar territory for Invivo,  who have also worked with Irish talk show host Graham Norton who developed his own highly successful wine and spirit portfolio which includes  his recently released Gin, with the Invivo team.  Since the launch of the GN Sauvignon Blanc in 2014, one in every 10 bottles of New Zealand wine sold on the Irish market is a Graham Norton wine.

“Invivo also sent me some of their other wine – which I LOVED –as well they told me a little bit more about their story,” said Sarah Jessica Parker. “I’m so looking forward to traveling to New Zealand to see where the grapes grow and the wine is made. The boys even brought me a pair of “gumboots” (a New Zealand term for galoshes) – which they assure me are the height of Kiwi vineyard fashion. Regardless, happy to have and perhaps even wear them.”

Invivo’s Co-founder Tim Lightbourne states, “The partnership with Sarah Jessica feels like a perfect fit. We didn’t want a silent partner or just a familiar face – we wanted someone who will throw themselves into the process and make wine that’s all about them and reflects their (good) taste. We can already see this happening and can’t wait to taste the end product.

Sarah Jessica Parker herself is no stranger to Ireland; she and her family own a holiday home on the outskirts of Kilcar Village in Donegal and visits the country on a regular basis.

Sarah Jessica Parker is the star and executive producer of “Divorce,” returning to HBO for a third hit season. In February 2014, she launched “SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker”, a footwear, apparel and accessory label, with partner George Malkemus III.  The collection showcases the brand’s theme of colours acting as neutrals and encourages women to take risks and break away from fashion rules they imagine. Parker currently serves as the Vice-Chairman of the board of directors for the New York City ballet. She also served on the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities under the Obama administration. Parker lives with her husband and three children in New York City.

Invivo’s mission is to bring people together so great things can happen. Invivo has been described as “New Zealand’s most innovative winery.” Founded in 2008 by school friends Tim Lightbourne and winemaker Rob Cameron, Invivo set out to make great wine without the elitist attitude the industry can be known for, they believe that nothing should stand in the way of a great drink. 11 years later, the formula has been a success, with their wines receiving over 200 international wine show medals, distribution in 16 countries and sales of over 3,000,000 bottles.  Invivo has also recently released a Gin brand in partnership with Graham Norton.

SJP’s new wine range will be distributed in Ireland by Barry & Fitzwilliam.
