Feel free to share:

Built as an area of expression and exchange between designers, buyers and press, we enjoyed a summer shot of Fashion with a selection of talented designers.

TRANOÏ WEEK was delighted to welcome the highly anticipated designers of LONDON show ROOMS. The BFC launched LONDON show ROOMS in 2008, taking emerging talent to Paris Fashion Week to sell in a showroom environment. The initiative was an instant success and has grown season on season.

A community of new highly creative designers and new contemporary ready-to-wear, accessories, and lifestyle brands.

Bianca Saunders

Bianca Saunders is a menswear designer born and based in London. She graduated with a Master of Arts degree from The Royal College of Art in 2017. Her menswear label is an exploration of surrounding identities and draws heavily on Bianca’s background growing up in London with West-Indian heritage.

Autumn-Winter 2018 collection, titled Personal Politics was presented at Pitti Uomo and focused on black male identities and challenging stereotypes of hyper masculinity.

Her Spring-Summer 2019 collection, titled Gestures, was showcased at London Fashion Week Men’s, as part of the covetable NEWGEN: One To Watch sponsorship scheme. The offering focused on body language and mannerisms, as observed in research films made by the designer.

Bianca Saunders latest Autumn-Winter 2019 collection, titled Unravelling, was presented in January 2019, at London Fashion Week Men’s. It continued to explore black male identity, this time focusing on self-expression in the expanse of the most intimate setting, the subject’s bedroom.

Each of the collection uses familiar fabrics, usually found in modern wardrobe – from nylon and leather to cotton shirting, jersey and denim. Saunders masterfully applies garment manipulation including creasing and shirring to reflect wearer’s identity struggles and being comfortable in your own clothes. The state of partial undress, seen as a styling choice, explores male sex appeal and subtly introduces feminine aspects to the menswear offering.

Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY

Glaswegian designer, illustrator and radical creative Charles Jeffrey, 27, is – to quote Dazed – ‘the ringleader of London’s next generation of club kids.’

The meteoric rise of the Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY label is best encapsulated by Tim Blanks for Business of Fashion: “Jeffrey is speaking to young London the way Alexander McQueen spoke to his generation.”

The past year has seen Jeffrey become one of the most talked-about names in fashion – with an LVMH Prize nomination, solo art exhibition at London’s NOW Gallery and the British Emerging Talent prize at 2017’s Fashion Awards under his belt.

His brand Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY encompasses a fashion label and a cult club night, each informing the other. The LOVERBOY night forms the primary research for Jeffrey’s collections, with his tribe of friends and creative collaborators – artists, performers, musicians, drag queens and poets – contributing to the egalitarian spirit of the brand.

Whilst studying for his BA in Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins, Charles was invited to hold his birthday party at legendary cult East London venue VF Dalston (Vogue Fabrics). After the event became one of the most talked-about happenings in London, he began the LOVERBOY series to fund his MA course at CSM.

After undertaking an internship in the couture atelier at Christian Dior, Jeffrey’s work was spotted by Lulu Kennedy MBE. He showed for three seasons as part of Fashion East’s MAN line-up in partnership with Topman.

His SS18 collection, shown in June 2017, was his first independent showcase. In her review for US Vogue, Sarah Mower commented: “Charles Jeffrey is currently the upholder of all that is human, creative and cheerful about British fashion.”

In his capacity as a stylist, Jeffrey works across special projects for some of the world’s leading fashion publications. As Senior Contributing Fashion Editor for LOVE, he has styled the front-of-book pages of the past three issues. Other commissions have included the Creative Direction of a Vivienne Westwood archive story for AnOther Man, Maison Margiela retrospective shoot (in collaboration with John Galliano) for LOVE, as well as stories for Buffalo Zine and CANDY.

Per Götesson

Per Götesson was launched through Fashion East in 2016, following his graduation at the Royal College of Art. Focused on Ready to wear innovative menswear, the brand has been recognized for reinterpreting wardrobe staples, and has been described as one of Londons break out talents this year.

A key feature of its aesthetics is an expressive silhouette, underpinned by Scandinavian functionalism. The design ethos embedded in the label “poetical functions” manifests itself in the details, drape and materials.

The combination of these elements has established a distinct signature to the brand, proposing an alternative silhouette to menswear as well as reimagining accessories and jewellery for men.

The range takes inspiration from street wear, sportswear and classic menswear. Elements of these staple pieces are deconstructed and reimagined through a unique process and contemporary vision

SABRY MAROUF

From Egyptian roots to London where the brand has been based since 2016, Ahmed Sabry and Daki Marouf create designs that pay tribute to their heritage. Ancient Egypt combines with modern expression for a new kind of storytelling.

The designers spent two years working with metalworkers and smiths in Cairo’s historic crafts district of Khan el-Khalili before launching their debut collection of jewellery. And upon graduating from the prestigious London College of Fashion, Ahmed and Daki were endorsed by HM Government for the Graduate Entrepreneur scheme to scale up their business out of the UK.

Today, in 2018, the brand debuts Amarna, the first bag collection. Made between Egypt, Italy, Spain, these timeless Art-Object pieces combine artisanal tradition with the latest technology in manufacture. Ancient Egypt is transposed as a new design language, the expression entirely modern.

A question Sabry Marouf ask themselves is: “Where will our pieces be in 100 years’ time?” The notion of timeless, cherished objects distinguishes their philosophy. Like treasures from a royal tomb, Sabry Marouf pieces have a feeling of being discovered. Beguiling and coded, these modern day artefacts become talismans in their wearer’s story.

Sabry Marouf was endorsed by Vogue Talents in 2016 as an emerging designer. The brand has shown at Milan Fashion Week; London Fashion Week for the British Fashion Council’s International Showcase at Somerset House and has shown at Paris Fashion Week part of the UKFT Showrooms.
