Spending the day in Constable Country
The Pynck Tour of Constable Country
John Constable, an 18th Century British landscape painter famed for masterpieces such as the Hay Wain and Dedham Vale. Many of Constable’s works are set amongst the landscapes of the Dedham Vale just on the North Essex/ Suffolk boarders. A Stunning area to visit, with many breathtaking walks with cozy places to eat along the way.
There are a number of walks around Dedham, including an easy route along the river Stour from the Dedham Mill to Flatford Mill, the setting of the Hay Wain. The walk is stunning in the summer, as families swim and picnic by the river, but it also makes for a cozy walk in the winter. Wrap up warm and throw a pair of wellies on and get on your way into the beautiful scenery.
For something to eat, The Sun Inn, in the Centre of the Dedham village, is a great choice. View the menu here. The Sun Inn also houses a number of rooms perfect for a weekend getaway.
