IRELAND in the 1980s, no smartphones, just smartarses and good music, bad advice and worse fashion, a perfect time to fall in love.

Danny Boy, the movie will premiere around the world this Friday evening

And this Friday, 1st May at 7pm (GMT) will be the perfect time to see the Facebook live world premiere of the new, independent film about ‘Danny Boy’, the quirky Irish coming-of-age comedy/drama about an anxious young man trying to find love circa 1981 in small town Ireland.

Launched onto the annual independent film circuit earlier this year, ‘Danny Boy’ was quickly earning rave reviews before the coronavirus pandemic shut down the world. The new film is an homage to simpler, happier times before pandemics and mobile phones and Cappuccinos, when the worst thing that could happen to a teenager was a broken heart.

“We are making our own circuit,” said Clelia Murphy recently on Virgin Media’s Ireland AM. “It is about bringing everybody together while staying apart. Dress up, have the craic, it’s for one night only and then it’s gone.”

Produced by Richard Kearney and Ferdia MacAnna who also wrote the script, ‘Danny Boy’ will air for one night only at its world premiere.

Log onto Facebook and search ‘‘Danny Boy’, the movie’ and upload lockdown images there in best 1980s romantic gear. There will be prizes for the best outfit and best 1980s look.
