Canadian-born, Milan-based twins Dean and Dan Caten hosted their SS21 digital show in a moving pliage format on their Instagram Stories and website. The brand’s glam-rock aesthetic has always attracted a versatile, playful and rebellious clientele who wished to be wear patterns, colours, textiles and goofy oversized garments all at the same time but still look tough. For their SS21 collection, the two brothers played their infamous aesthetic down while still preserving the impertinence that defines it. The little black dresses, delicate laced pieces, and strict monochrome tailoring invoked the clean lines of the early 2000s, something they likened to a subtle dominatrix look. There were also refined harnessing details, transparent plastic sandals with straps wrapped rigidly around the calf, and authoritarian pencil skirts with seductive transparent sectioning. Sophisticated slits gashed the dresses on the chest, revealing additional harnessing. This collection, although smaller than usual, is filled to the brim with original garments for spring nights to come.
