Hair and beauty makes a statement at New York Fashion Week

Feel free to share:

NEW York Fashion week went ahead (13th-17th September) without a hitch in moving as it did from the runway to virtual reality almost across the board, the exception being socially distanced outdoor audiences of no more than 50 people while most of the shows streamed online.

While fashion trends for spring/summer 2021 were making a hit, backstage beauty professionals were making a statement with stunning hair and makeup looks around the new normal essential face mask featuring new solutions for recreating colourful eyes.

At Zero + Maria Cornejo makeup artist Dick Page created stand-out eye statements while non-smear faux freckles were the thing for Jason Wu’s Erin Parsons. Anna Sui and Collina Strada presented spring statement face flowers and for a more understated look, fresh flower crowns and veils.

In a return to the heady days of disco, Tom Ford created iridescent eyeshadow washes with deep fruit colour blushes hearkening back to the 1970s while at Rodarte, Anna Sui and Cinq à Sept added a touch of coverage and artistic highlighting for bold lips and bare eyes.

The spring/summer 2021 season will be all about experimental and inventive hair, makeup and nails with braided and sweeping hairstyles to suit models’ aesthetics and hair types, bold eyeliners, imaginative brows and bold lashes and nail appliques.
