Tomo Koizumi x Pucci

Feel free to share:
«  Sulla Riva » is Tomo Koizumi’s latest brainchild for Pucci’s Spring-Summer 2021 collection, presented in a short film directed by Tommaso Acquarone during the Covid-19 pandemic. Pucci’s new rotating designer system has allowed relatively unknown creatives like Tomo Koizumi and Christelle Koché to braid a fashion house’s legacy to their own artistic vision. Tomo Koizumi was spotted in 2012 by British headhunter and founder of Love magazine, Katie Grand, who recognised in his inventive designs catered to Japanese stars a talent far beyond that of codified cultural reproduction. The short film is set in an introspective lakeside retreat where women resembling muses indulge in lighthearted play. They tenderly dance, chase each other through neoclassical architecture, wait for the wind to get up and the rain to come wash their manor.

The clothes all seem to interact somehow with the medium of transparency, using beautiful silks and organzas. Some carefully embroidered dress are indeed see-through, while trousers and skirts only give an impression of translucence. The delicate scarf chokers are winded many times around the neck and become part of a silhouette that oscillates between delicacy and durability. The 60’s patterns are often composed with bright full colours and enhanced by compact white or black tights. With designers like Koizumi, Pucci’s future is in very safe hands.
