Genny at Milan Fashion Week – Dreaming of Bell’Italia!

Feel free to share:

There is no motto as fitting to this year’s Milan Fashion Week as the one chosen by Genny :«  Dreaming of Bell’Italia! ». The Italianate theme was taken up by almost every designer’s collection in light of the Cover-19 pandemic as the fashion industry was urged by many to reconnect to their roots and a more ethical marketing strategy.

Staged in the Verona area, in Parco Giardino Sigurtà’s beautiful garden, the collection was composed of 42 looks which were modelled by dynamic Italian women. The looks were timeless featuring simple collarless coats and playsuits, short and jacket suit coordinates, gowns and day dresses all infused with an endearing 1950’s aesthetic. A large colour palette was explored spanning from purple, yellow, begonia, white to nude and golden. When you looked closely at the fabrics, you could distinguish delicate prints exploring a musical theme. Eighth and sixteenth notes were scattered over garments while large violins were embroidered on sections of dresses. Genny’s SS21 collection was rhythmically strong and introduced statement pieces that lay out a bright and sophisticated future for the women who will choose to wear them.
