THE 78th version of the 2021 Golden Globes for televised series and movies was unusual, the ceremony delayed for two months due to the pandemic and resulting in the first ever bi-coastal event in California and New York City.

Tina Fey hosted live from New York’s Rainbow Room while co-host Amy Poehler was in the awards’ traditional home at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills California in front of socially distanced audiences. Instead of a room filled with celebrities, however, there were first responders, essential workers and members from Feeding America, the change in attending guests made to include the people who are normally on the front lines of the pandemic.

“Normally this room is filled with celebrities but tonight our audience on both coasts is made up of smoking hot First Responders and essential workers,” explained Tina Fey. “We are so grateful for the work (they) do and that (they were) here.”
