Allbright Aim To Tear Down The Taboo Attached To The Menopause!

Feel free to share:

Menopausal women are now the fastest growing demographic in the workforce, with a third of female staff soon to be over 50. Despite this figure, 77% of Irish women do not feel comfortable discussing the menopause, and 80% believe that the menopause is a taboo subject that is shied away from. With 86% of women not telling their employer the real reason they had to take time off work when suffering from menopausal symptoms, AllBright, Vichy and The Menopause Hub believe the time for change is now.

To assist women nationally, AllBright recently partnered with Vichy Laboratories to create a free and accessible digital first campaign, Let’s Not Pause Menopause Summit. Aimed at giving the women of Ireland free access to inspirational and practical programming to help support them through this momentous life transition. The day long virtual summit took place last week and some of the headline speakers included a mix of Irish and international authorities on the topic such as Dorcas Barry of Henpicked, Aisling Grimley of My Second Spring and Loretta Dignam of The Menopause Hub featured in the line-up.

To support the event, AllBright, Vichy and The Menopause Hub conducted two independent surveys, with a total of 1,908 participants, in the hopes of addressing the menopause gap.

Additional key findings of the surveys include:

  • 95% Irish women do not think that there is adequate educational information and communities    available to support Irish women experiencing the menopause.
  • 97% of Irish women think that menopause training for Management / HR teams within the organisations is necessary
  • 12% left the workforce because of their symptoms
  • 40% considered giving up work
  • 22% took 3 or more days off work due to their symptoms

Offering continued support, The Menopause Hub has launched a menopause in the workplace programme to enable employers to make their workplace friendly.
