Patek Philippe Co Host Weir & Sons’ 150th Celebration
On Thursday April 11th, two iconic family-owned brands, Patek Philippe and Weir & Sons, came together to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Weir & Sons, and the launch of a very special limited commemorative watch, the Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Chronograph Special Series Ref. 5905P-014
The black tie gala dinner took place at The Round Room at The Mansion House hosted by the directors of Weir & Sons and Mr Thierry Stern, President of Patek Philippe. Guests including hotelier and presenter Francis Brennan along with over 250 of Weir & Sons most loyal clients were welcomed by the atmospheric sounds of violinist Eimear Bradley. The party proved a fitting and fabulous celebration of the brand’s 150 year history as the bubbly flowed and guests enjoyed a five course dinner, before taking to the dance floor to the rocking sounds of The Bentley Boys.
A very special moment in the evening was the unveiling of the Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Chronograph Special Series Ref. 5905P-014, a limited edition of just 25 pieces (€90,500). The Special Series Ref. 5905P-014 houses a self-winding movement and features a green sunburst dial with gold applied hour markers on shiny green alligator strap while the words Weir & Sons and 150th Anniversary are engraved on the rim of the sapphire-crystal case back.
The event also marked the launch of an exhibition featuring the bespoke piece and the 2019 Patek Philippe exhibition collection. Open to the public from today Friday 12th April – Sunday 14th April, the pieces will be showcased in the purpose-designed exhibition room on the lower ground floor of Weir & Sons’ landmark building on Dublin’s Grafton Street.
Thierry Stern, President of Patek Philippe, was delighted to co-host the evening saying, “Our relationship with Weirs & Sons was established more than 50 years ago and we are happy to honour this special bond with the limited edition Special Series Ref. 5905P-014 (€90,500). We are proud to have played such an integral part in Weir & Sons’ 150-year long history and look forward to a fruitful partnership for many years to come.”
