It may be cold, it may be Covid, but New York keeps up. The city that never sleeps will constantly surprise you; providing lots of delightful activities, both fun and educational to all who want to participate. There’s always so much going on here. I’ve chosen a few destinations for you to enjoy now in the Big Apple.

A glimmering winter kaleidoscope has come to the Garment District with Prismatica, an immersive art installation comprised of 25 pivoting prisms that reflect the colors of the rainbow. As pedestrians walk through the exhibition, the six-foot-tall, multi-colored prisms fill the plazas with reflections and musical sounds, creating an ever-changing light show.

This exhibition brings back happy memories for anyone who worked in the garment district. We were called “garmentos,” or, as the Huffpost explains it, “manufacturers, wholesalers, suppliers, and designers—that rare breed of New Yorker we affectionately know as garmentos. Yes, I was a buyer for Lord & Taylor and an apparel designer for the corporate office of Saks Fifth Ave. back then and yes, I was a garmento. Want to take a free tour of the Garment District? For the Private Penguin Connection, up to 6 family members can spend 30 minutes with these adorable little penguins while the penguin experts fill you in on how they are cared for. The cost: $280.00 per group of 6.

Would you rather have an up-close experience with a Cheetah? No problem. The private Cheetah Connection is a tad more expensive than penguins, but I suppose cheetahs charge more. The cost: $330.00 per group of 6.
